Zoom in, 5pm Tuesdays!

So far this year

Tues 11-Nov: Transformational Pedestrian Crossings

Josef Whitfield, now at Manchester City Council, discusses a transformational pedestrian crossings project to reduce wait times that he undertook for Transport for Greater Manchester.

Tues 18-Nov: Pedestrian-Friendly Side-road Junctions

Mark Philpotts from design consultancy City Infinity, AKA Ranty Highwayman, and Robert Weetman, freelance specialist on street design and member of the Living Streets team present Realistic AND Radical - How to create pedestrian-friendly side-road junctions.

Tues 25-Nov: The TNBI Cycling Project

Matt Smith, University of Brighton, and Beck Cedar from The Clare Project will present an overview of the TNBI Cycling Project. This explored the benefits of, and barriers to, cycling for transgender, non-binary and intersex people in Brighton & Hove and created a zine to showcase the findings.

Jerònia Cubells, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, will discuss LGBTIQ+ experiences of active travel (walking and cycling) in Barcelona

Tues 02-Dec: Managing Landowner Concerns and Opposition

Chris Steibelt from the Friends of Rother Valley Way will talk about Rural Active Travel Routes - Managing Landowner Concerns and Opposition.

Tues 09-Dec: Film evening!  City of Cars!

Our last Active Travel Cafe of the year will be a little different - we are screening filmmaker Sarah Chaundler’s award winning documentary, City of Cars (25 mins running time). The film is introduced by Chris Boardman and shows the devastating impact of road violence on families and communities; charts the high profile campaigning of activists hoping to create safer streets; and looks at potential solutions. Sarah will be with us to discuss the film. We won’t be recording this session so definitely one not to miss!
